Join the Green Lancaster team's taster ECOWild Walk to get an overview of our nature and wellbeing project, immerse yourself in the natural world through wildlife observation and mindful activities, and share a plant-based al fresco tea break in our bell tent! We will reflect on the Autumn Equinox, learn about rowan trees and craft something to take home with you out of rowan wood.
This taster session is a great way for you to meet the Green Lancaster Team, learn more about how you can get involved with us throughout the year, and meet new likeminded people.

Our weekly ECOWild walks provide our community with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world through wildlife observation and mindful activities.  The project is underpinned by the 5 ways to wellbeing – enabling participants to connect, be active, take notice, learn and give – and the 5 pathways to nature connection to help them nurture their connection to nature, through contact, beauty, meaning, emotion and compassion.

Please book a ticket to help us know how many participants to expect. If you were unable to book one, you can still come along on the day.

Please meet at the ECOHub on Alexandra Park, from where we will make our way on foot to the day’s location.

Please ensure you are wearing appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing. If you would like to, you will be able to borrow waterproofs and wellies on the day. Gloves and equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink with you as we usually have an al fresco a tea-break during the session. We will provide tea for all participants.

Please contact us on green@lancaster.ac.uk in advance of the session if you have reduced mobility or accessibility requirements.

Our Weekly ECOWild Walks take place every Tuesday between 09:30 and 13:00 during term time and include elements such as flora identification, wildlife observation, nature immersion, creative activities, and outdoor tea break. Identification equipment such as binoculars and books are provided. To record and monitor biodiversity on university land, we use the iRecord app. By uploading our species sightings to the app, we help provide biodiversity information that contributes to nature conservation, planning, research and education.
